About the client:
Phylum is a solution for open source software supply chain security.
Defend your system beyond known software vulnerabilities. Today’s malicious actors are more sophisticated than ever. First gen products only identify software vulnerabilities and license issues. Phylum analyzes all major risk classes across the entire software supply chain. Comprehensive data sets – Phylum ingests all information about open source packages to provide the most complete analysis. Static analysis of open source packages – Phylum analyzes the full source code of open source packages to allow deep understanding of issues.
My approach:
My role was to redesign their existing logo, which included a finch silhouette (an homage to Charles Darwin’s work on biology and evolution) and to create an identity ecosystem to accompany the new logo. My approach was to keep the finch direction as a legacy to the existing logo, but to focus on the head alone and to draw it using basic, clear, geometric shapes since security is about being very precise and accurate.
For the identity materials I have imagined using a diagonal 2 colors scheme that interacts with the logo geometry, a visual metaphor for a scanning radar, that ads dynamism to the whole branding system. In the images you can see the approved logo, the construction grid of the symbol and of the full logo, the stationery design, pages from the Brand Manual and a logo animation.
